London, United Kingdom (uk.gov.krd) The Kurdistan Regional Government High Representative to the United Kingdom, Mr Karwan Jamal Tahir briefed the first virtual meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on the Kurdistan Region since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting was attended by High Representative Karwan Jamal Tahir, Rt Hon Robert Halfon MP, Chair of the APPG, Alicia Kearns MP, Feryal Clark MP, Lord Jack McConnell, Gary Kent, APPG Secretary and parliamentary staff members.
Mr. Tahir briefed the members on the ongoing challenges on many fronts in the Kurdistan Region and expressed concerns over the second wave of coronavirus. He said: “There has been a sudden rise in cases which requires a response that goes beyond a medical provision. The Kurdistan Region needs international support that is critical to help continued testing, to prepare for and respond to suspected cases, and to prevent the further spread of the virus.”
APPG members debated and discussed the issues affecting the Kurdistan Region, including the latest measures and developments in the fight against the coronavirus. The meeting identified future plans and how the UK could provide additional assistance to the Kurdistan Region.
