High Representative Karwan discusses accreditation and recognition process with UK NARIC

London, United Kingdom (uk.gov.krd) UK NARIC, responsible for providing official source of information on international education and training systems hosted the Kurdistan Regional Government High Representative to the United Kingdom, Mr Karwan Jamal Tahir and Legaa Firas , Director of Education and Culture in its Headquarters in Cheltenham to explore the comparability of Kurdish qualifications and skills in the UK.
The meeting was represented by UK NARIC’s CEO Dr Cloud Bai-Yun and Tim Buttress, Head of Stakeholder Management Group. The two sides discussed matters related to qualification recognition and collaborative arrangements for putting the Kurdistan Region on their recognition map.
High Representative Karwan updated the team on the changing landscape of recognition in the Kurdistan Region and said: “as a part of our national strategy, we are looking internationally to bring our operations and academics to global standards.” Mr Karwan stressed the need for introducing a country file on Kurdistan Region to provide the Kurdish people with an opportunity to have access to ongoing education and employment in the UK.
The NARIC team welcomed the proposal and willingness to conduct a study on the education system in the Kurdistan Region with the aim of introducing a country file on the Kurdistan Region in their International Comparison data bank.
During the visit, the Head of Stakeholder Management Group took High Representative Karwan on a tour to meet NARIC’s team.
