London, United Kingdom (uk.gov.krd)- The Kurdistan Regional Government High Representative to the United Kingdom, Mr Karwan Jamal Tahir met with Her Majesty’s new Consulate-General to Erbil, Mr David Hunt in London, replacing the outgoing British Consul-General in Erbil, Mr James Thornton who have maintained excellent bilateral relations between both sides during his term in the region.
High Representative Karwan congratulated Mr David on his new post. He said: ” My government and I look forward to continuing the close cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the United Kingdom.” During the meeting, the two sides discussed joint collaborations on areas like culture, education, trade, security and defence with the aim of tackling shared challenges.
Mr Hunt has served in the FCO for 20 years, working in a range of positions, focusing on security policy as well as bilateral relations. Prior to this post, he served as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Lithuania. Previously he was the Head of the UK Nationals Department in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and most recently was the Deputy Head of Conflict Department at the FCO in London. From (2005-2008) he worked at the UK Embassy in Zagreb, Croatia.
