London, United Kingdom (uk.gov.krd) To mark the passing of late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos ,the Kurdistan Regional Government High Representative to the United Kingdom, Mr Karwan Jamal Tahir visited the Embassy of Oman in London and was welcomed by Oman’s Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Mr Abdulaziz Abdulla Zahir Al Hinai. On behalf of the Kurdistan Regional Government, High Representative Karwan conveyed the message of condolence to HE Ambassador Mr Abdulaziz Abdulla Zahir Al Hinai and the people of Oman for the loss of their great leader.
In the light of regional development, Mr Tahir outlined the political and security environment of the region and the need for diplomatic solutions to ease the arising tensions which could have further implications for the regional order. Ambassador HE Al Hinai shared similar views with High Representative Karwan and recognised the Kurdistan Region as “a model of success that should have been followed in the rest of Iraq.”
During the visit, High Representative Karwan met with American and British diplomats including, Sir Derek Plumbly KCMG, a British diplomat who served throughout the Arab world and beyond.
The discussions focused on supporting the political parties and parliament to bring about greater accountability and inclusive representations. Global Governance Partner’s team identified opportunities for delivering parliamentary programmes in the Kurdistan Region, drawing on diverse experience in complex political environment.
High Representative Karwan highlighted the political developments in Kurdistan and stressed the added value of the Global Governance Partner’s programme to reinforce the capacity of Kurdistan parliament and political parties to manage the political and practical challenges of the government.
