IBBC Hosts 5th Annual Economic Forum Highlighting Iraq–UK Business Opportunities

Mansion House, London, United Kingdom, www.uk.gov.krd.  The fifth annual Economic Forum organised by the Iraq British Business Council brought together a diverse mix of business leaders and stakeholders from Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the United Kingdom, with a particular focus on strengthening the role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in cross-border trade and investment.

Representing the Kurdistan Regional Government UK Representation, Hawre Kawani, Director of the Department of Economy and Business participated in the forum.

The forum provided a platform for in-depth discussions on boosting UK exports to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, while also exploring investment pathways for Iraqi and Kurdish companies seeking to establish or expand operations in the UK.


Key topics included regulatory frameworks for foreign company registration in the UK, strategies for fostering partnerships between international and local firms, and sector-specific investment opportunities. Areas highlighted for potential collaboration included construction, healthcare, education and vocational training, tourism, and agriculture.

The forum served as a crucial touchpoint for enhancing economic ties and building sustainable partnerships between Iraqi, Kurdish, and British businesses.
