London, United Kingdom, www.uk.gov.krd. Karwan Jamal Tahir, the KRG High Representative to the UK, took part in the Second Mother-Tongue Conference, organised by the Kurdish Association for New Generation Abroad (KANGA) in London.

The conference brought together a diverse group of academics, linguists, Kurdish language experts, educators, and organisations focused on education and Kurdish language preservation. Participants reflected on KANGA’s two decades of work and the goals of the conference.
In his remarks, the KRG High Representative congratulated KANGA on its 20th anniversary, which coincided with the event, and extended his appreciation to the director, board members, and educators.

“It is a matter of pride to see how the KANGA Organisation has grown professionally over the past twenty years. It has become a vital bridge connecting Kurdish children with their motherland through education and cultural engagement,” he said.
He also commended KANGA for organising the second Mother-Tongue Conference and emphasised the significance of expert involvement in language and education.

“It is encouraging to see leading voices in the field present. Through research and dialogue, linguists can guide efforts toward standardised Kurdish spelling and the purification of the language from foreign influences,” he added.

Distinguished speakers at the conference included Professor Dr. Faryad Fazil, Professor Dr. Hogar Mahmoud Faraj, Professor Dr. Abdulwahhab Khalid, Professor Shilan Omar, Dr. Behrooz Chaman Ara, and Khalil Sharif.
