KRG delegations participate at Education World Forum in London

London, United Kingdom (uk.gov.krd) The Kurdistan Regional Government High Representative to the United Kingdom, Mr Karwan Jamal Tahir accompanied KRG delegation led by Dr Aram Mohammad Qadir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Dr Alan Hama Saeed Salih, Minister of Education at the Education World Forum, the world’s largest gatherings of education ministers and experts.
The forum presented discussions around education polices from 120 countries. The themes of this forum revolved around building partnerships, coalitions and cooperation across governments and between departments to transform the education system. The forum was addressed by Education Secretary, Minister Gavin Williamson, setting out vision for post-British education. He said: “The UK has always been an outward-looking and global nation, with a proud history and record when it comes to education and innovation.” Minister Williamson also added that “the UK’s doors are open to international students who want to benefit from its leading education. That goal was underlined in September 2019 by the creation of a new graduate visa route, giving international students up to two years to find employment after successfully completing their studies.”
On the margin on the forum, High Representative Karwan and the KRG Ministers met with UK Education Secretary, Minister Gavin Williamson at the official reception at Lancaster House and conveyed the KRG’s message of gratitude and appreciation to the UK government and also reaffirmed further future engagements between both sides.
The delegation also held meetings with academic institutions in the UK, underlining the KRG’s plan to revise the national curriculum, learning outcomes and professional developments. The forum also presented the delegation with an opportunity to visit Education Show and Bett in London and meet with providers covering full range of sectors.
