London, United Kingdom (uk.gov.krd) The Kurdistan Regional Government High Representative to the United Kingdom, Karwan Jamal Tahir held a virtual meeting with the Iraq team at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), Ayaaz Nawab, Head of Iraq Team, Olivia Murphy, Desk Officer, Iraq Team- Regional, Economics and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and Acting Consul General, Melanie Smart to discuss bilateral ties and ways to further strengthen security, economic, social and cultural ties.
High Representative Karwan warned of threats to Iraq’s sovereignty. He said: “Daesh has retained its capability and continues to evolve its operations in Iraq’s disputed territories. To be proactive in our response to eliminate this threat, the UK’s effort is vital for coordinated actions between the Peshmerga forces and Iraqi forces.
The meeting also focused on the COVID-19 situation, Kurdistan Region’s economic reforms and KRG-UK bilateral ties.
