The two sides exchanged views on the general displacement in Iraq. High Representative Karwan briefed the team on the Kurdistan Regional Government’s direct assistance to provide the displaced people with access to essential services, food shelter and wash aids in addition to livelihoods opportunities to build resilience for the displaced population.
High Representative Karwan indicated that the KRG has stretched its limited resources to respond to the challenge. He said: “There has been a significant pressure on the vital services and infrastructure in the Kurdistan Region. There is a critical need for international support to maintain essential aids for the vulnerable communities.”
During the meeting, High Representative Karwan praised the efforts of Mosaic Middle East Charity for helping vulnerable minorities and offered recommendations on assisting the displaced community with the possibility of returning to their homes.
