Turkish Studies Center Marks 14th Anniversary with High-Profile Reception in London

The Turkish Studies Center (CEFTUS) celebrated its 14th anniversary with a distinguished evening reception attended by a wide range of guests, including the Kurdistan Regional Government’s High Representative to the United Kingdom, Karwan Jamal Tahir, and members the representation’s team.

The event brought together Members of Parliament, Lords, international diplomats, business leaders, and representatives of various organisations across London. The evening highlighted the important role played by the Kurdish, Cypriot, and Turkish communities in the UK in fostering collaboration to promote freedom and democracy in Turkey, preserve cultural identity, and strengthen connections with other communities across the country.

As part of the celebration, awards were presented to outstanding individuals, companies, academics, and employers in recognition of their exceptional achievements, community service, and contributions to the UK’s economic growth. The awards were handed out by the High representative of the KRG, alongside ambassadors and parliamentarians.

Speakers at the event underscored the Turkish Studies Center’s significant contribution over the past 14 years in organising seminars and discussions on issues related to freedom, democracy, and the rights of all communities in Turkey. They praised the Center’s efforts to promote social harmony while advancing dialogue on coexistence among Kurds, Turks, and Cypriots, and highlighted the positive impact these communities continue to make in the economic, social, and cultural life of the United Kingdom.
