Lord Ahmed of Wimbledon received a delegation from Kurdistan Regional Government

Lord Ahmed of Wimbledon, Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict and Minister of State (Minister for South and Central Asia, North Africa, United Nations and the Commonwealth), received a high delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government consisting of Dr. Pshtiwan Sadiq, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, Ano Jawhar Abdulmaseeh Abdoka accompanied by KRG High Representative to the UK, Karwan Jamal Tahir.
During the meeting, the KRG delegation emphasised the continuous efforts by the Kurdistan Regional Government in providing a safe haven for all religions that exist in the Kurdistan Region, including refugees and Internally Displaced People (IDP) of many faiths from Iraq, including individuals fleeing religious persecution across the wider region.
Moreover, the KRG delegation thanked the British Government for its continuous assistance and support to the Kurdistan Region and reiterated their hope that the relationship between them will remain strong.
In response, Lord Ahmed praised the stance of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Kurdish people in welcoming refugees, especially those who are persecuted for their religious beliefs. He further expressed gratitude to the Kurdistan Regional Government for its attention to freedom of religion or belief and all the assistance it has been providing to the refugees and IDPs. Lord Ahmad also stated that the implementation of the Yezidi survivors’ law is the UK's top priority.
