KRG Representative Meets with Syrian Democratic Council Delegation to Discuss Regional Developments

Karwan Jamal Tahir, the High Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government to the United Kingdom held a meeting with a delegation from the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), which included Dr. Mohammed Mustafa and Hussein Mamo. The discussions focused on recent political and security developments in Western Kurdistan (Rojava), broader Syria, and the Middle East region.

The SDC delegation provided an in-depth overview of the current situation in Western Kurdistan, emphasising the sensitive state of affairs in Syria following recent unrest in the Sweida region. They highlighted the implications of these events on the Druze community and other groups across the country.

The visiting delegation praised the Kurdistan Region's political leadership for its continued support and cooperation with Rojawa. They commended the KRG’s role in advocating for the legitimate rights of Syrians components in the pursuit of a democratic and inclusive future.
Both parties stressed that the foundation for a stable and prosperous Syria must be rooted in democratic values, freedom, and the protection of the rights of all ethnic, religious, and social groups. The SDC noted that these principles will guide their ongoing dialogue with the Syrian government, its allies, and other relevant actors.


Mr. Tahir reaffirmed the KRG’s commitment to unity, collaboration, and coexistence. He underscored the importance of recognising the sacrifices made by the people of Western Kurdistan in their pursuit of peace and democracy, and emphasised the need to preserve their achievements within a future pluralistic Syrian state.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing a shared commitment to continued cooperation and dialogue in support of regional stability and democratic progress.
