KRG High Representative meets with the Chairman of APPG on Kurdistan Region

United Kingdom, London, www.uk.gov.krd. The High Representative
of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in the United Kingdom, Karwan Jamal
Tahir, held a meeting with John Slinger, the Chairman of All Parties
Parliamentary Group on Kurdistan Region (APPG), and a number of members of the
group.
In addition to congratulating Slinger on his election as a
member of parliament and the Chairman of the group and other new members of
parliament who attended the meeting، he also briefed
them on the current situation in the Kurdistan Region، Iraq and the broader region, and highlighted the political process in the
region and the recent parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan Region that was
held in a free and transparent manner.
During the meeting، the process of
forming the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government was discussed and
it was emphasised that Kurdistan political parties are working seriously to
form the tenth cabinet of the government as soon as possible.
During the meeting، the High Representative
of the Kurdistan Regional Government referred to the issues between Erbil and
Baghdad، especially the issue of the
region's budget، employees'
salaries and other pending issues، and called on
the group to use their influence with the UK government to play a greater role
in resolving these problems based on the permanent constitution of the federal
Iraqi government. At the same time, he stressed the main principle of the
Kurdistan Region's work in maintaining the stability of the region and
distancing the region from conflicts and terrorism threats, which are increasing
day by day.
During the meeting، Karwan Jamal
Tahir thanked the group for all their activities to support Kurdistan Region and asked them to play an active role with the government of
their country in order to protect the constitutional entity of Kurdistan Region
and the security and stability of the region in general.
Reiterating their continued support for the Kurdistan Region
and its citizens, the group's Chairman and members asked the KRG High Representative a number of questions and discussed topics of mutual interest.
They also stated their desire to secure additional support for the Kurdistan
Region and its protection. At the same time, they mentioned that their group
intends to travel to the Kurdistan Region soon to familiarise themselves with
the situation there and to meet with civil society and key parties in order to
further strengthen contacts on a number of levels.
