KRG High Representative met with the British General Consul in Erbil

Kurdistan Region, Erbil, www.uk.gov.krd. During his visit to the Kurdistan Region, Karwan Jamal Tahir, the Kurdistan Regional Government's High Representative to the United Kingdom, held a meeting with Andrew Beasley, the British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.

The discussions focused on strengthening the bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and the United Kingdom across various sectors, including economic, trade, social, and cultural fields. Both parties also addressed the current regional situation and security challenges, with particular emphasis on the political process in Iraq. They underscored the importance of resolving issues with Baghdad in accordance with Iraq's permanent constitution.

Karwan Jamal Tahir expressed his gratitude to the British government for its continued support of the Kurdistan Region. He highlighted the need for ongoing assistance from both the United Kingdom and the international community to ensure the region's stability and to facilitate the resolution of disputes with the federal government in Baghdad.

Furthermore, both sides emphasised the significance of continued collaboration to strengthen their bilateral relations. The British Consul General in Erbil reaffirmed that a key priority of his mission is to enhance the UK's robust relationship with both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and he reiterated his commitment to all forms of cooperation.
