KRG UK joins a roundtable conversation at the University of Stirling in Scotland.

United Kingdom, Edinburgh, www.uk.gov.krd. Scotland’s University of Stirling hosted a panel discussion on the research project “The Next 100 Years of Peace in the Middle East,” sponsored by the Scottish Council on Global Affairs.

In the beginning, Dr. Ilya Xipolia and Dr. Zana Gul project supervisors, gave a briefing on their academic research. It focused on achieving peace and stability in the Middle East, 100 years after the Lausanne Treaty. The purpose of the event was to gather expert inputs on the Middle East, fostering enriched research for future discussion and publication.

Khosro Ajgayi, Director of Political and Media Affairs at the Kurdistan Regional Government Representation in the UK, who was representing the KRG High Representative emphasised the importance of security and stability in the Middle East, which can’t be achieved unless the Kurds’ cause is resolved fairly, and the mistakes of the Lausanne Agreement are not repeated.


He added that without resolving the Kurdish and Palestine issues, peace and stability in the region would not be possible. Moreover, he highlighted the importance of peaceful coexistence in the region and called for a re-evaluation of the education and culture sectors to foster a conducive environment for achieving stability and security in the Middle East.

Notably, diplomats and academics attended the meeting, and their perspectives were deliberated.
