The Head of the Department of Foreign Relations meets with Director General of MENA

United Kingdom, London, Department of Foreign Affairs, www.uk.gov.krd. H.E. Safeen Dizayee, Head of the Department of Foreign Relations in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) met with Stephen Hickey, Director General of the Middle East and North Africa Office at the FCDO.

The meeting, which was attended by Karwan Jamal Tahir, KRG High Representative to the UK, bilateral relations, areas of coordination and how to develop them, the situation in the Kurdistan Region, Erbil-Baghdad relations and the latest political and security developments were discussed.

Both sides agreed on the importance of intensifying efforts to resolve the issues between Erbil and Baghdad. H.E. Dizayee stressed that the role of the UK in assisting Iraq and the Kurdistan Region was immensely important.

The two sides emphasized the need to overcome the differences and internal problems of the Kurdistan Region and the importance of holding the Kurdistan parliamentary elections on time.

Priorities and partnerships, as well as local and regional concerns were discussed and both sides emphasized the need for further strengthening partnerships and expanding coordination with the aim of further expanding bilateral relations between the UK and KRI.
