The Kurdistan Regional Government UK Representation participated in the annual party conference of the Labour Party

London, United Kingdom (uk.gov.krd), the Kurdistan
Regional Government Representation in the UK’s delegation led by Karwan Jamal Tahir,
the KRG Representative in the UK, attended the Labour Party's annual conference
held in Liverpool on 25-28 September.
During the conference, the delegation participated in several fringes to learn
about the Labour Party's views and strategies, especially their foreign policy
and position on global issues.
High Representative Karwan Jamal Tahir met during the conference with several
ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions, where they reiterated furthering
the bilateral relations.
The delegation also participated in a special reception for the heads of
diplomatic missions and ambassadors, which David Lammy, Shadow Foreign
Secretary, hosted. In his speech, he highlighted the general direction of
Labour's foreign policy and stressed the need to strengthen Britain's role and
influence in international affairs.
Shadow Defense Secretary John Haley stressed his
party's commitment to protecting international security and supporting British
allies. In a short conversation with the Shadow Foreign Minister, The KRG UK
High Representative, Karwan Jamal Tahir, reiterated the Kurdistan Region's
desire to develop relations with the Labour Party further and extended an open
invitation to David Lammy to visit the Kurdistan Region.
On the sidelines of the conference, the KRG Representation
hosted a reception in which several members of the Labour Party, diplomats and activists
attended. In his speech, High Representative Karwan Jamal Tahir thanked the UK
for assisting the Kurdistan Region and stressed the need to continue the strong
relations between the two nations. In a speech, Bambos Charalambos MP, Shadow
Minister of the Middle East and North Africa, praised the role of the Kurdistan
Region in the fight against ISIS terrorists and the freedom, democracy and
coexistence that has become a successful example in the region. He also
stressed the need to continue the strong relations between the Kurdistan Region
and the UK.
On the last day of the conference, the delegation
attended the leader's speech Sir Keir Starmer, in which he shed light on the
party's strategy and priorities.
