President Nechervan Barzani attends the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II

London, United Kingdom (uk.gov.krd). President Nechervan Barzani arrived in London on Sunday at the official invitation of the UK Government within the Federal Republic of Iraq delegation to participate in the state funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II.


In a reception hosted by His Majesty King Charles III to the world leaders, The President of Kurdistan Region was among the invitees to attend the event at Buckingham Palace, where HE President Nechervan Barzani conveyed his condolences and sympathies on behalf of the people and the Government of the Kurdistan Region to His Majesty King Charles III, the Royal Family, the people, and the government of the United Kingdom, and the Commonwealth. His Majesty King Charles III expressed his appreciation to President Nechervan Barzani for participating in the state funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II.


President Nechervan Barzani also paid respects to HM Queen Elizabeth II at her Lying-in-State at Westminster Hall, the UK Parliament, where he was accompanied by Dr Jaafar Muhammad Al-Sadr, the Federal Republic of Iraq’s ambassador and Karwan Jamal Tahir, the Kurdistan Region High Representative.
On the second day of his visit, President Nechervan Barzani joined dignitaries and leaders from around the world to attend the state funeral service of the late Queen Elizabeth II, held at Westminster Abbey in London, UK.


Following the conclusion of the funeral service at Westminster Abbey, Kurdistan Region President Nechervan Barzani took part in a reception hosted by the Foreign Secretary, Rt Hon James Cleverly, for dignitaries at the Church House in London, where the President of Kurdistan Region signed the book of condolences expressing heartfelt condolences on the passing of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on behalf of the Kurdistan Region and the Federal Republic of Iraq.


During the State Funeral, Kurdistan Region’s President met many leaders and dignities, including President Joe Biden, President Emmanuel Macron, the King of Jordan Abdullah II and many others.
