UK and Kurdistan Region Reaffirm Strategic Partnership and Discuss Regional Stability and Trade Ties

Minister Safin Mohsin Dizayee, Head of the KRG’s Department of Foreign Relations, and Karwan Jamal Tahir KRG High Reprsentative to the UK were received by Hamish Falconer FCDO’s minister for the MENA and David Hunt, who oversees Iraq, Syria, and Yemen policy.

During the meeting, Minister Dizayee highlighted the long-standing relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the United Kingdom, describing it as strategic and grounded in shared interests and values. He emphasised the importance of further strengthening bilateral ties across political, economic, and cultural spheres.


FCDO’s Minister for MENA reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to its partnership with both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, expressing support for political stability and development. He also conveyed concern over recent attacks targeting the Kurdistan Region.
The discussions also covered the wider political situation in the Middle East, particularly developments in Iraq’s political process. Both sides underscored the importance of maintaining stability and continuing constructive engagement.

Economic and trade relations were also on the agenda, with both parties agreeing on the importance of expanding cooperation and prioritising efforts to deepen commercial ties between the Kurdistan Region and the United Kingdom.
