London, United Kingdom. www.uk.gov.krd – Karwan Jamal Tahir, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) High Representative to the United Kingdom, attended a gala dinner in London commemorating the 100th birthday of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

The dinner, organised by the Margaret Thatcher Centre, brought together senior Conservative Party figures, government officials, Members of Parliament, members of the House of Lords, international diplomats, and Mrs. Thatcher’s eldest son, Sir Mark Thatcher.

In his address, Sir Mark Thatcher reflected on the remarkable life and legacy of his mother, known globally as the Iron Lady, for her leadership, determination, and influence in shaping both British and international politics. He also underlined her enduring impact on inspiring future generations.

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson delivered a speech celebrating Mrs. Thatcher’s strong and visionary leadership, recalling how she and then U.S. President Ronald Reagan played a decisive role in ending the influence of the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc, and ushering in a new political era.

On the side-lines of the event, Mr. Tahir engaged in discussions with several current and former Conservative Party leaders, MPs, Lords, international diplomats, and distinguished guests, highlighting the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the United Kingdom.
