High Representative participates in an event organised by Ammar Charity Foundation

United Kingdom, House of Lords, www.uk.gov.krd. At the Jubilee Hall of the British House of Lords, Karwan Jamal Tahir KRG High Representative to the UK took part in a special event hosted by the British Parliamentarians Group for Opera and the British Repertoire Charity to promote and increase awareness of the value of music in the curriculum and educational stages as well as its therapeutic effects on mental health.

At the event, students from London's Hallsville Primary School performed a few pieces of music to show the value and level of musical education in schools, which was attended by several British MPs, Lords, and Baroness.


At the same time, a group of Ezidi girls from the refugee camps in Duhok were invited  to the event and used drumming, songs, and other musical expressions to convey their feelings of love and the return to life.

At the event, the High Representative expressed gratitude to the Amar Charity Foundation, its board members, Baroness Emma Nicholson and the Foundation's chairperson of the board of directors for their ongoing assistance to the Ezidi Kurds residing in Kurdistan's camps.
Additionally, he extended a warm welcome to the Ezidi Girls Group, thanked them for showcasing the stunning Ezidi arts and culture, and emphasised the value of music's ability to bring people together and spread a message.

During the event, the High Representative thanked the Amari Charity Foundation and Baroness Emma Nicholson Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Foundation and its board members for their continuous support to the Ezedi Kurds living in the camps in Kurdistan. He also warmly welcomed the Ezidi Girl Group and thanked them for presenting the beautiful Ezidi arts and culture and stressed the importance of the power of music in providing the peace of mind and delivering a message to the world.

Karwan Jamal Tahir also emphasised that the Yazidi refugees should return to their homeland with dignity by implementing Sinjar Security Agreement which include, normalising the situation in the area and rebuild it in order to lessen their suffering.

After ten years of ISIS atrocities, many of Ezidis are still in the camps in Kurdistan Region, and it is important to note that the Amar Charitable Foundation provides special music classes and psychological support to Ezidis in Kurdistan's IDP camps.
