Kurdistan regional Government attends International Ministerial Conference on Freedom of Religion or Belief 2022

Minister’s Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict and
Minister of State for South and Central Asia, North Africa, United Nations and
the Commonwealth officially invited a high delegation from the Kurdistan
Regional Government consisting of Dr. Pshtiwan Sadiq, Minister of Endowments
and Religious Affairs, Ano Jawhar Abdulmaseeh Abdoka, Minister of Transport and
Communications, Bishop Bashar Warda and a number of representatives of
different religions in Kurdistan Region accompanied by KRG High Representative
to the UK, Karwan Jamal Tahir and participated in the International Ministerial
Conference on Freedom of Religion or Belief 2022 in London.
The conference brought together
governments, parliamentarians, faith and belief representatives and civil
society. National governments represented at the conference were invited to
co-sign 1 or more of a set of written statements. The set includes an
overarching statement on the conference itself and 7 thematic statements
covering freedom of religion or belief issues.
On the side-lines of the
conference, the delegation met with a number of participants of the conference,
including government officials, parliamentarians, representatives of different
religions and civil society organisations and discussed religious coexistence
in the Kurdistan Region and the steps taken by the Kurdistan Regional
Government to create a peaceful environment for all different religions to
practise their religions peacefully and freely.
