KRG High Representative updates audience at British Parliament on the Peshmergas fight with Daesh and Kurdistan’s future

London, United Kingdom - (KRG-uk.gov.krd) - Karwan Jamal Tahir, the KRG High Representative to the UK, last night updated a high-level audience at a seminar organised by the European-Atlantic Group, in the House of Commons, on Kurdistan’s fight against Deash and its future within Iraq. Guests included Members of Parliament, Peers and representatives from the diplomatic and business community in London.

Mr Tahir stressed the need for the coalition forces to supply the Peshmerga with advanced military equipment that will enable them to defeat Deash, a brutal terrorist organisation that is a threat to the entire world. He said “Despite the current fiscal crisis caused by the government in Baghdad suspending the KRG’s share of the national budget as agreed in the constitution, and our fight with Daesh, Kurdistan remains to serve as a beacon of stability in the region with a democratic, multi-ethnic government, hosting 1.8 million Syrian refugees and internally displaced people from the rest of Iraq.”
