London, United Kingdom - (KRG-uk.gov.krd) - Karwan Jamal Tahir, the KRG High Representative to the UK, met with Crispin Blunt, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee andother members of the Committee to discuss the fight against Daesh, the needs of PeshmergaForces,the financial and humanitarian crisis in the Region.
In the meeting, the KRG High Representative briefed the members of the Committee, including Rt Hon Ann Clwydand Mr John Baron about the fight against Daeshand the bravery of Peshmarga Forces. Mr Tahir asked the Committee for military support for the Peshmerga forces in order to continue the fight and eradicate Daesh. He thanked the UK government for all the support to the Peshmergaforces; however he requested additional military equipments and training.
Mr Tahir also stressed the humanitarian needs of the nearly 2 million refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs); the continuing dialogue between Erbil and Baghdad; and the financial challenges in the Region. Considering the magnitude of security, financial and humanitarian challenges facing the Kurdistan Region, Mr Tahir called for further military, financial and humanitarian support from the UK government.
