High Representative Meets Newly Appointed UK Consul General to the Kurdistan Region

Jamal Tahir welcomed the newly appointed United Kingdom Consul General to the
Kurdistan Region, Holly Vare, along with Shahin Dalia, Head of the Iraq Team at
the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), during a meeting
focused on strengthening bilateral relations.
Mr. Tahir congratulated Consul General Veer on her
appointment and wished her success in her new role, reaffirming the Kurdistan
Region's commitment to continued cooperation with the United Kingdom.
Ms. Vare expressed her appreciation for the welcome and
said she was pleased to begin her tenure in the Kurdistan Region, whike underscoring
her commitment to deepening the longstanding partnership between the United
Kingdom and the Kurdistan Region across a range of sectors, with particular
emphasis on expanding economic cooperation and enhancing coordination on shared
priorities.
During the meeting, Mr. Tahir described the relationship
between the Kurdistan Region and the United Kingdom as longstanding, strong,
and strategically important. He highlighted Britain's historical role in the
region and stressed the importance of building on existing cooperation through
closer coordination and joint initiatives.
The High Representative reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region's readiness to
strengthen collaboration with the United Kingdom and discussed a number of
issues of mutual interest and strategic importance. The meeting also included
an exchange of views on key regional developments and internal matters
affecting the Kurdistan Region.
